Update 11/07/12
Many have inquired about funeral arrangements, and as soon as all the details have been confirmed, we will be able to pass that information along. As you can understand this is a difficult time for the Withem family and this may take a little time.

Update 11/04/12
During the last couple days, Pastor John became less responsive and was resting more frequently. He continued to be medicated to relieve as much pain as possible. However this morning he experienced an hour of extreme pain. Then, at around 3 am, Jesus took John home to be with him where there is no more suffering or tears.

Please continue to pray for Nancy, Criste, & Jonathan during this difficult time. Please give them some time for themselves during the next several days. Continue to check back here for updates on future details such as funeral arrangements, etc.

Update: 10/31/12
A few days ago Pastor John woke up and has been able to communicate with family and visitors a bit. He is still heavily sedated and thankfully feeling no pain. He’s had a real hankering for Dr. Pepper, which Nancy, Jonathan and Criste are more than happy to provide. God has given us a truly wonderful gift to spend a few more special moments with our dear friend!

Update:10/28/12
On Wednesday evening, October 24, Pastor John was taken to the emergency room because of dehydration and the intense amount of pain he was experiencing due to his on-going battle with cancer. By Thursday, he was moved to the ICU, where he also had a seizure. He and Nancy then proceeded to have several conversations with the doctors and nurses. Several test, MRI’s and CT scans later, the decision was made to contact their children Jonathan, Criste and her husband Ben to come to spend a few moments with Dad. Friday morning, after the family was all together, John was then sedated as the only alternative to his pain.

On Saturday, October 27, John was transported back home via ambulance and is there now resting peacefully surrounded by family and friends who love him. As it stands right now, the next time John wakes up, it will be when he wakes up in the arms of Jesus Christ, his Savior.
